Diabetes Risk Factors: Do You Know Yours?
Format: Feature Article
Institute: National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)
A recent survey by the National Diabetes Education Program showed that although many Americans are aware of diabetes risk factors, they do not understand what those risk factors mean for them. When it comes to understanding their personal risk for diabetes, family history of the disease is what makes people take notice. Although family history can't be changed, there are important lifestyle factors that you can change to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes. You can learn more about your diabetes risk factors in a new feature article called "Diabetes Risk Factors: Do You Know Yours?"
