Format: Fact Sheet
Institute: National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)
If you don't feel well after consuming milk or other dairy products, you may have lactose intolerance. People with this condition have trouble digesting lactose, the sugar found in milk and milk products. Lactose Intolerance: What You Need to Know, part of NIDDK's Awareness and Prevention Series, defines lactose intolerance and briefly describes symptoms and dietary modifications people with lactose intolerance can make to avoid symptoms. It is available in both English and Spanish.
