Remember to Protect Your Eyes from the Sun
Institute: National Eye Institute (NEI)
July is a wonderful time to make sure that not only your skin but also your eyes are protected from the sun. While having summer fun, use a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses to limit your eyes' exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. When purchasing sunglasses, look for a pair that blocks out 99 to 100 percent of both UV-A and UV-B radiation. Protecting your eyes from sunlight may help to delay some eye diseases, such as cataracts. A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye that affects vision.
