Format: Video
Institute: National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)
Gestational diabetes mellitus is a type of diabetes that occurs during pregnancy. Women who have had gestational diabetes and their children may have increased risk of type 2 diabetes.
You can get tips from a woman with a history of gestational diabetes in the National Diabetes Education Program's (NDEP's) new video, "The Lasting Impact of Gestational Diabetes: Making Healthy Choices as a Family." In the video, NDEP volunteer Sandra Aguilar Scott shares advice about preventing type 2 diabetes in her family.
