Encouraging Research on Vulvodynia
Format: Research Plan
Institute: Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)
Vulvodynia is a poorly understood group of conditions that cause chronic pain in the vulva, or external female genitalia. Following a year of meetings with and input from scientists, clinicians, and patient groups, NIH recently released its research plan for learning more about this disorder, its features, and possible treatments.
You can read the research plan at www.nichd.nih.gov/publications/pubs/upload/NIH_Vulvodynia_Plan_April2012.pdf or learn more about the plan and about vulvodynia at http://nichd.nih.gov/news/resources/spotlight/050812-vulvodynia-research-plan.cfm.
