Keep Your Child with Diabetes Safe at School
Format: Guide
Institute: National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)
Do you have a child with diabetes? Helping the Student with Diabetes Succeed: A Guide for School Personnel, a newly updated manual from the National Diabetes Education Program, can help you learn about the information your child's school needs to help manage his or her diabetes and prepare for emergencies.
The guide recommends that you notify school officials that your child has diabetes and work with your child's personal diabetes health care team to develop a diabetes medical management plan. It also recommends that you permit sharing of relevant medical information by the school and your child's health care team.
