Looking into Long-Term Care

Format: Web Site
Institute: National Institute on Aging (NIA), National Library of Medicine (NLM)

What is long-term care? Will you need it? Are there things you should be doing now to plan ahead? Find the answers to these and other questions by visiting "Long-Term Care," the newest topic to appear on NIHSeniorHealth, NIH's health and wellness Web site for older adults. With approximately 10 million Americans currently in need of long-term services and support and 15 million expected to need some type of long-term care by 2020, there is a pressing need for this information.

Next Steps

You can read "Long-Term Care" at www.nihseniorhealth.gov/longtermcare/toc.html. The short, easy-to-read segments; large-print, open-captioned videos; and speech function make the information on the site easy for older adults to see, understand, and navigate. The Administration on Aging helped develop the "Long-Term Care" topic.
