American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) have repeatedly identified substance abuse as a primary research need for their communities. In October, a one-day meeting will showcase NIDA's best science in this research area, covering topics in etiology, prevention, treatment, and services. NIDA will host the meeting in collaboration with the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the National Cancer Institute, and the NIH Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research.
