Mandatory Water Restriction for Montgomery County
March 19, 2013
Earlier this morning, a major water main broke in Montgomery County. While repairs to the water line are being made, the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) has asked their customers to curtail water usage by 10%. We are asking NIH employees, contractors, and visitors to reduce our water usage during this emergency. This can be accomplished by a number of activities including flushing toilets only once, washing hands quickly, not filling or washing office coffee pots in the water fountains.
Not wasting water will also ensure that there is an adequate water supply for local Fire Departments and the NIH Fire Department should an emergency arise.
WSSC will notify its customers once the restrictions have been lifted.
