Type 1 diabetes is the diabetes that used to be called historically juvenile diabetes, but it really does occur across the ages, but it is more common in kids. And this type of diabetes is due to a complete loss or almost a complete loss of insulin production by the body. So what happens is it’s an autoimmune disease and the body actually mistakenly creates antibodies to destroy the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.
