NIDA to Host Two-Day Neuroscience Symposium to Honor the Late Dr. Roger Brown
| WHAT: |
"Foundations and Innovations in the Neuroscience of Addiction," a two-day symposium dedicated to the memory of Dr. Roger Brown, Associate Director of Neuroscience in the Division of Neuroscience and Behavioral Research at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).
|
|
| WHY: |
For more than 20 years, the late Dr. Roger Brown was instrumental in fostering the development of cutting edge neuroscience research in the area of drug abuse and addiction. The programs he helped develop have made seminal contributions to our current understanding of neurobiological substrates for reinforcing effects of drugs of abuse, the transition to compulsive, uncontrollable patterns of use, and events that trigger relapse.

of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. NIDA supports
more than 85 percent of the world's research on the health aspects
of drug abuse and addiction. The Institute carries out a large variety
of programs to ensure the rapid dissemination of research information
and its implementation in policy and practice. Fact sheets on the
health effects of drugs of abuse and information on NIDA research
