Fun Summer Days – Eating Better and Getting Active – 2

Narrator: This is NIH Health Matters. I’m Joe Balintfy. During the dog-days of summer, we’re reminded to stay healthy.

Wein: And the other this is that health eating opportunities come with warmer weather too. When you’re hot, a salad is refreshing, and fruit.

Narrator: Harrison Wein, is editor of NIH News in Health newsletter. He reports that there are healthy eating opportunities that come with warmer weather.

Wein: And in places like the DC area, and probably most of the country, it’s easier to get fresh fruits and vegetables. You can also go to pick-your-own farms to get the kids involved and let them really know where their food comes from and that makes it more likely that they’ll actually eat healthy foods.

Narrator: He notes that there are more locally grown fruits and vegetables during summer. For more summer eating tips, visit the NIH News In Health newsletter. It’s online at newsinhealth.nih.gov. Health Matters is produced by the National Institutes of Health, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
