Parents can help their child have a healthy school year - 3

Narrator: This NIH Health Matters, I’m Joe Balintfy. Children grow at different rates at different times, so it is not always easy to tell if a child is overweight or obese. Dr. Griffin Rodgers at the NIH says, if you think that your child is overweight or obese, talk to your health care provider.

Rodgers:  If your child is overweight or obese, he or she is at greater risk for developing serious health problems such as diabetes

Narrator:  Helping children make and keep healthy lifestyle habits, like physical activity and healthy eating, may lower their chances of developing health problems as adults.
