Narrator: She’s talking about older adults and alcohol. How people often continue to drink as they did when they were younger.
Dr. Bernard: One needs to think about it. One needs to recognize that if you were able to drink two glasses of wine each evening when you were younger, you may not be able to do that as you’re older. And there’s no shame associated with it. It’s something that you simply need to try to address.
Narrator: Dr. Bernard recommends the publication, "Older Adults and Alcohol: You Can Get Help." To get free copies, visit www.nih.gov. Health Matters is produced by the National Institutes of Health, part of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
