Healthy Vision Month – 1

Narrator: This is NIH Health Matters. Eye health is a reflection of overall health.

Dr. Clayton: It’s critical to get a complete eye exam, a comprehensive eye exam that looks at everything…

Narrator: Dr. Janine Austin Clayton is with the Office of Research on Women’s Health.

Dr. Clayton: And to look at that completely it requires the pupil to be dilated. The eye is certainly the window to the soul, the eye is the window to your health, and it’s a really, really critical part of the overall health and people need to take that into consideration as they’re thinking about their overall health. You know, you get your physical, you need to get your eye exam. You get your pap smear, you get your mammogram, you need to get your eye exam. We need people to think about the eyes as part of their overall health and well being.

Narrator: For information on eye health, and more about medical research, visit www.nih.gov. Health Matters is produced by the National Institutes of Health, part of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
