Encouraging dads to get on track to better health – 3

Narrator:   This is NIH Health Matters. I’m Joe Balintfy. By taking better care of their health, dads can improve their future and set a good example for loved ones.  Dr. Griffin Rodgers at the National Institutes of Health says being more active and eating better are two ways to be healthier.

Rodgers:  Dads can also improve their physical and mental health by getting adequate sleep, quitting smoking, and reducing how much alcohol they drink.

Narrator:  Because alcohol can be a big source of calories.

Rodgers:  So before you reach for that second beverage as you celebrate Father’s Day, remember that what you drink can expand your waistline just as much as what you eat.

Narrator:  For details, visit the website win.niddk.nih.gov.  Health Matters is produced by the National Institutes of Health, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
