NIH Awards $8.5 Million for Research on Pharmaceuticals for Children – 2
Narrator: This is NIH Health Matters. The NIH recently awarded 8.5 million dollars for research on children’s pharmaceuticals. Dr. Steven Hirschfeld at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, explains the scope.
Dr. Hirschfeld: This initiative is designed to be what we hope will be a first attempt at looking at multiple outcomes for diseases that are of importance to children, and we believe also of importance to adults.
Narrator: Studying drugs in children is challenging because drugs often affect children differently than they do adults. For more information, visit www.nichd.nih.gov. Health Matters is produced by the National Institutes of Health, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
