Training peers improves social outcomes for kids with ASD – 1
Narrator: This is NIH Health Matters. I’m Joe Balintfy. A recent study has shown that when it comes to training children with autism spectrum disorder their peers can play a part.
Kasari: I think using the peers in the classroom is probably the most important finding.
Narrator: Dr. Connie Kasari [KAHz-ah-ri] is from UCLA and is the principle investigator for the NIH funded study.
Kasari: Just to work with our children with autism on social skills trying to help them get those skills that they need to engage with other children is really just not enough.
