Lynch syndrome awareness – 1
Narrator: This is NIH Health Matters. I’m Joe Balintfy. Despite improvement, results from an NIH study show continued need for better diabetes control. The study shows the number of people with diabetes able to meet or exceed the three key measures that demonstrate good diabetes management rose from about 2 percent to about 19 percent. But Dr. Catherine Cowie at the NIH says there’s still plenty of room for improvement.
Cowie: There should still be a focus on improving diabetes control as early as possible in the disease course to try to ward off complications.
Narrator: Complications include heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, and amputation. For more about diabetes control, visit www.niddk.nih.gov. Health Matters is produced by the NIH, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
