Ammary-Risch: Healthy Vision Month primarily focuses on making sure people are seeing their best and their eyes are healthy.
Narrator: Neyal Ammary-Risch is the Director of the National Eye Health Education Program at the National Eye Institute.
Ammary-Risch: We know right now that 14 million Americans are visually impaired; and of these, 11 million could benefit just from contact lenses or eye glasses.
Narrator: She says it’s very important to have comprehensive dilated eye exams on a regular basis and make them part of your routine health care because many eye diseases show no symptoms in early stages.
