NHGRI Launches Improved Online Talking Glossary of Genetic Terms – 3
Narrator: This is NIH Health Matters. A recently updated glossary "talks" giving much more than written explanations of more than 200 genetic terms like DNA or genome. Jeff Witherly at the National Human Genome Research Institute says that in addition to written definitions, verbal explanations, and pronunciations, each term has space for an illustration or a 3-D animation.
Witherly: For a teacher or a student, the illustrations can be downloaded in PDFs or PowerPoints, it can also be used copyright-free.
Narrator: Many terms are from current textbooks used in middle and high school science classes. The Talking Glossary of Genetic Terms also includes a “Test Your Gene Knowledge” quiz.
