Making a plan to prevent diabetes and its complications – 1
Narrator: This is NIH Health Matters. I’m Joe Balintfy. November is National Diabetes Month: a time for people, groups and communities to highlight diabetes, including making a plan to manage the disease and its complications.
Rodgers: People with diabetes can’t take a vacation from diabetes
Narrator: Dr. Griffin Rodgers, an institute director at the NIH says nearly 26 million Americans – more than 8 percent of the population – are living with diabetes.
Rodgers: They need to make decisions to manage their diabetes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Narrator: Dr. Rodgers offers the website www.YourDiabetesInfo.org/MakeAPlan as a resource to help meet and overcome the challenges of making and sustaining lifestyle changes that can prevent and manage diabetes. Health Matters is produced by the NIH, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
