In Mouse Study, Researchers Discover New Mechanism for Clearing Blockages from Smallest Blood Vessels – 2
Narrator: This is NIH Health Matters. I’m Joe Balintfy. Persistent blockage of blood vessels or repeated blood clots can have devastating effects in the brain.
Petanceska: So the body has developed a number of mechanisms to actually eliminate spontaneously occurring blood clots.
Narrator: Dr. Suzana Petanceska at the National Institute of Aging explains that a study has shown a previously unknown way the brain can remove clots.
Petanceska: This was a study conducted in mice, where they used some cutting-edge new technology that allowed them to visualize.
