Narrator: This NIH Health Matters. A lot of breast cancer research has focused on finding a cure. But a new initiative probes at the underlying causes of the disease.

Love: My goal is not a cure for breast cancer. My goal is to prevent breast cancer altogether.

Narrator: Dr. Susan Love spearheads the Army of Women, which is enrolling thousands of women in studies focused on preventing breast cancer by understanding and changing the environment that causes it. She spoke at the National Cancer Institute.

Love: To alter the environment means large epidemiological studies to figure out what the factors are.
