We Can! and National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month – 2
Narrator: This is NIH Health Matters. I’m Joe Balintfy. One resource for parents and children during National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month this September is the Ways to Enhance Children's Activity & Nutrition or "We Can!" education program. Karen Donato at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute explains that "We Can!" materials focus on three behaviors:
Donato: One is healthy eating, one is increasing physical activity, and the third is decreasing screen time. And by “screen time” we mean that we want to decrease the amount of time that children and youth spend in front of the television or computer screens doing video games, and that limitation is, no more than two hours per day.
Narrator: For details visit the website wecan.nhlbi.nih.gov. Health Matters is produced by the National Institutes of Health, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
