Parents can help children have a healthy school year – 1

Narrator:  This is NIH Health Matters.  I’m Joe Balintfy.  At back-to-school time, health experts are reminding parents to help their children have a healthy school year.

Rodgers:  With so many demands on you and your child during the school year, it is easy for healthy eating and physical activity habits to take a back seat.

Narrator: Dr. Griffin Rodgers, an NIH institute director, says school days don’t have to lead to skipped meals and inactivity.

Rodgers:  In fact, healthy eating and regular physical activity may help the whole family meet the challenges of a hectic school year.

Narrator: For more information on healthy eating and physical activity for kids year round, visit www.win.niddk.nih.gov.  Health Matters is produced by the National Institutes of Health, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
