NIH "News In Health"
Brief Description:
A new monthly publication from NIH is designed to bring all sorts of current health information to the public.
Transcript:
Thornton: A new monthly online publication put out by the National Institutes of Health focuses on bringing health information to the public. "NIH News in Health" features health news from NIH, capsules about the latest medical research, and useful NIH websites. Doctor Harrison Wein [like "wine"] — Editor of "NIH News in Health" — discusses the goals of the newsletter...
Wein: "We're trying to give people practical health advice they can use; we're also trying to show how all the research NIH does has practical effects on people's lives. NIH has thousands of research projects going on at any given time; in one way or another, these are all designed to make us healthier. Mostly in the newsletter, we focus on more-immediate health issues; but, we also want people to understand how basic research fits into this picture."
Thornton: "NIH News in Health" reaches over 1,700 health clinics, libraries, and hospitals, around the country. Health-care providers and libraries can also get a free print subscription — and anyone can get a free e-mail subscription to receive alerts when new issues come out. For more information, go to newsinhealth.nih.gov. This is Matt Thornton, at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland.
