NIA/NLM Website Offers Information on Low Vision

Brief Description:

Information on the "NIHSeniorHealth" website helps dispel the notion that there's nothing older people can do to treat low vision.

Transcript:

Akinso: Vision loss doesn't necessarily go hand-in-hand with getting older. That's just one of the things you'll learn when you check out the "Low Vision" subject on the website, www.NIHseniorhealth.gov. Rosemary Janiszewski — Director of the National Eye Institute's "National Eye Health Education Program" — says this website will help dispel the myth that there's nothing you can do to treat low vision.

Janiszewski: People will find out about what the causes are, what they should look for — changes in their vision. The most-important thing that they'll find is that there is help for them — and vision-rehabilitation services and devices do exist.

Akinso: For information, visit www.NIHseniorhealth.gov. The website is supported by the National Institute on Aging and the National Library of Medicine. This is Wally Akinso, at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland.
