Family Members of Patients Who Die in the ICU Report Greater Satisfaction with Communication and Involvement than Family Members of ICU Survivors (MP3 - 01:44, 1.9 MB)
A recent study partially funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research found that family members of loved ones who died in the intensive care unit tend to be more satisfied with the care they and the patient received than family members of ICU survivors.

Ozone Can Affect Heavier People More (MP3 - 02:09, 1.9 MB)
Researchers at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, along with scientists from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency analyzed previously-collected data on young, healthy, non-smoking men and women to see if they could answer that question. Their study provided the first evidence that people with a higher body mass index may have a greater response to ozone than leaner people.

One in Seven Americans Age 71 and Older Has Some Type of Dementia, NIH-Funded Study Estimates (MP3 - 02:33, 2.3 MB)
New analysis suggests that about 3.4 million Americans age 71 and older — that's one in seven people in that age group — have dementia. And 2.4 million of them have Alzheimer's disease.

More than 36,000 Students Ask NIDA Scientists about Drugs and Addiction (MP3 - 02:13, 2.1 MB)
When scientists from the National Institute on Drug Abuse scheduled an online chat about drug abuse and addiction with students, they expected a couple thousand kids to take part. Turns out that was a low estimate. WAY low!
