Researchers at the National Institutes of Health have found that more than 50 percent of the current asthma cases in the country can be attributed to allergies, with about 30 percent of those cases attributed to cat allergies.

The number of visits to a doctor's office that resulted in a diagnosis of bipolar disorder in children and adolescents has increased by 40 times over the last decade, according to a study funded in part by the National Institutes of Health.

There's been a change in the official thinking about asthma. This update, announced by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health, represents the first comprehensive change to the asthma guidelines in a decade.
