West Nile Virus Information

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)

NIH's NIAID supports reseach to develop vaccines, antiviral medicines, and new diagnostic assays for West Nile virus. Additionally, basic research is providing new clues about the virus itself, the disease in humans and animals, and how the virus is maintained in the environment. This knowledge is essential in developing strategies to prevent, treat, and eventually control this disease.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

While NIH conducts research on West Nile and related viruses, the lead Federal Agency for information on this public health problem is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
