Third Annual Workshop on the Consomic Rat Phenome Project

Application Deadline: June 25, 2004
Meeting Date: July 27-28, 2004
Location: Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

This two-day workshop consists of both lectures and hands-on computer tutorials covering the development of the animal models, high-throughput phenotyping, and bioinformatics tools. This workshop is designed to provide an overview of the available tools and resources being generated by PhysGen PGA (http://pga.mcw.edu) to attach physiological traits to the genome.

The goal of this workshop is to provide investigators with the ability to navigate the website, utilize the bioinformatics tools available, and discover the advantages of using consomic rats in their own research. The participants will be introduced to novel approaches aimed at understanding the genetic contribution of the complex diseases involving heart, lung, blood and sleep. This workshop is appropriate for clinical and basic science investigators studying complex diseases.
