We are studying structures and functions of the Drosophila NK-homeobox genes during development. Particularly, we are interested in the functional role of the NK-4 homeobox gene (tinman) in mesodermal cell differentiation and cardiac development, and the function of the NK-1 homeobox gene in neuro-muscular synaptogenesis.
