SUMMARY:
Germ Cells
KEY WORDS:
Drosophila, sex determination, germline, alternative splicing, ovo, snf,
Sxl, otu
INTERESTS:
The sexual identity of the Drosophila soma is regulated by genetic
hierarchy regulatyed to large degree by alternative pre-mRNA splicing. We
are interested in how germline sex is determined. We know little about how
germ cells become committed to sex differentiation, but here too there is
evidence of regulation at the level of splicing. We are interested in the
steps between germline formation and the onset of germline "terminal
differentiation" (gametogenesis)

-
Send a full CV, and have letters of recommendation sent to Brian Oliver at
the address above. A very brief statement your specific interests in germ
cells should also be included. Prior experience with Drosophila is not
necessary.
