Constance Weisner

Constance Weisner, DrPh, MSW, conducts research on the epidemiology of alcohol and drug problems; the interaction among alcohol, drug, mental health and medical problems; and the outcomes and cost-effectiveness of treatment services. Her ongoing work focuses on the integration of substance use services within mainstream health care.

She has served on the National Advisory Councils of the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment and been a member of the MacArthur Network on Mental Health and the Law, and the World Health Organization’s Expert Advisory Council on Drug and Alcohol Problems. Dr. Weisner has participated on several Institute of Medicine committees, including “Improving the Quality of Health Care for Mental and Substance Use Conditions” and “Substance Use Disorders in the U.S. Armed Forces.” She was a section editor of the recent Surgeon General’s Report, “Facing Addiction in America.”
