Richard Platt, M.D., M.Sc.
Richard Platt is Professor and Chair of the Harvard Medical School Department of Population Medicine, at the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. He is principal investigator of the FDA Sentinel System, which performs post-marketing safety surveillance using the electronic health data from over 175 million people. Dr. Platt is also principal investigator of PCORI's PCORnet coordinating center, a consortium of 29 networks that will use electronic health data to conduct comparative effectiveness research. He co-leads the coordinating center of the NIH Health Care System Research Collaboratory and leads a CDC Prevention Epicenter. He co-chairs the Comparative Effectiveness Research Innovation Collaborative of the Institute of Medicine’s Roundtable on Value and Science-Driven Healthcare, and is a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges Advisory Panel on Research.
