Media Resources

The NIH Office of Communications & Public Liaison News Media Branch (NMB) within the NIH Office of the Director is NIH’s central resource for reporters seeking information, interviews, and media assets about NIH and its 27 Institutes and Centers. Our office assists reporters in obtaining interviews with the NIH Director and NIH OD leadership, and information about the NIH budget, grants, trans-NIH initiatives, research programs within the NIH Office of the Director, etc.

NIH News Releases

To receive NIH releases via email, please provide your name, outlet name, email address and phone number to ocplpressteam@od.nih.gov. To receive NIH pre-embargo releases, please register with EurekAlert.

Visual Assets

The NIH Flickr page contains a wide range of downloadable images, b-roll, illustrations, and infographics for use by the media. These visual assets are free to use with the appropriate credit provided with each image. If you are seeking a visual asset that is not on the NIH Flickr page, please contact our office.

Filming Requests

Permission must be obtained from our office prior to filming or recording on the NIH campus. Upon request, we can arrange filming of NIH buildings, events, or interviews with NIH leadership, researchers, physicians, and administrative professionals.

Once permission has been granted, we will make the necessary arrangements with campus security, provide parking information, and help guide crews through the process of setting up filming on campus, including going through security.
Prepared video and b-roll are available on the NIH Flickr page.

Photography Requests

Photographs of the NIH campus and buildings are not permitted without prior authorization from our office. To arrange a photo shoot, please contact our office.
You may also use photos on the NIH Flickr page with appropriate credit.

NIH Remote Studio

The NIH has a high-definition remote studio that can be booked by television outlets for interviewing NIH experts remotely for a minimum fee of $350 per 30 minute slot. Producers must first coordinate with the relevant NIH media office to schedule the interview with the NIH expert. Once the availability of the NIH expert has been scheduled, producers must then contact Video Link and the NIH News Media Branch Office to schedule the studio.
