Next generation of clinician-researchers to unite at NIH forum
What
More than 270 medical, dental, and veterinary students from 60 schools will attend the ninth annual National Institutes of Health Clinical Investigator Student Trainee (CIST) Forum.
Why
The CIST Forum will convene students participating in basic, translational, and clinical research fellowships — year-long enrichment programs at academic medical centers and at the NIH — for a two-day meeting with their peers, program leaders, and established clinical and translational researchers from around the country.
Who
NIH Director Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D., will deliver the opening address at 8:30 a.m., and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., will give the keynote speech at 6 p.m. on Oct. 20. Other speakers include Jesse Goodman, M.D., chief scientist and deputy commissioner for science at the Food and Drug Administration; NIH principal investigators; and alumni of the various research fellowships represented at the forum.
When/Where
The forum is a two-day event, held Oct. 20, at the NIH Natcher Conference Center (Building 45) and Oct. 21, at the Clinical Center (Building 10).
