Dr. Collins delivered remarks introducing Julio Frenk, M.D., Ph.D., presenter of the 2009 David E. Barmes Global Health Lecture. Dr. Frenk, dean of the Harvard School of Public Health, discussed "Globalization and Health: The Role of Knowledge in an Interdependent World." The first everMobile Technologies as a Platform for Health Research and Healthcare Delivery Health (mHealth) Summit at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C., Dr. Collins gave a keynote address. The mission of the mHealth Summit is to explore the use of mobile technologies (cell phones, PDAs, etc.) to improve public health.
