ECHO Program Organization

Displayed in the ECHO Program Organizational Chart in Figure 1, ECHO Cohorts’ Executive Committee oversees programmatic strategy and resource use. The Steering Committee is composed of an investigator from each ECHO award and oversees scientific issues within the program, thus empowering investigators to drive the science.

ISPCTN has a similar governance approach that invests authority for strategy and resource use in the Leadership Committee and scientific leadership in the Steering Committee.

The NIH ECHO Program Office sets scientific and collaborative vision, ensures that components adhere to NIH policies, and provides funding and facilitates researchers working together so that the ECHO whole is more than the sum of the parts. Given its role in ensuring maximum return on taxpayer investment, the NIH reserves the right to make final decisions on any ECHO matter.
